Liverpool v Man Utd Tips

After an underwhelming ‘Super’ Sunday at the weekend, Monday Night Football cranks up a couple of gears as one of English football’s top fixtures takes place at Anfield.

Yes, it’s Liverpool against Manchester United and as usual the stakes are pretty high. This renewal sees the home side in the ascendancy after a run of four consecutive Premier League wins and a strong victory could see them end the day at the top of the table.

After stumbling to a disappointing 2-0 loss to Burnley on the second week of the season it looked like Liverpool’s inconsistencies would once again be a real issue for them.

Since then though they’ve been near enough flawless with a 1-1 draw at Spurs being followed by wins over Leicester, Chelsea, Hull and Swansea.

There’s a confidence and rapidity about Jurgen Klopp’s side at the moment and that’s borne out in the fact they’ve scored 18 times in the division this season.

For Manchester United it’s less straight-forward. After a strong start to the season with three wins out of three in the league Jose Mourinho’s side have won just one of their next four games and find themselves down in seventh position.

It’s easy to pick holes in their form. They were soundly beaten by Manchester City and followed that up with a poor 3-1 loss against Watford. Two more points were spurned in their last game against Stoke when they somewhat unluckily ended the game with a 1-1 draw.

There’s just a feeling that this United side lack the thrust and energy of Liverpool and they could be exposed on Monday night.

Klopp’s side have executed the gegenpressing technique well this season and with the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Antonio Valencia and Wayne Rooney on the wrong side of 30 you would have to worry about their fragility here.

Liverpool have scored in eight of their nine matches this season and it looks a big ask for Manchester United to shut them out at Anfield.

On the other side of the coin though Liverpool have struggled to keep it tidy at the back and the likes of Burnley and Hull have found success in scoring against them.

188BET make Liverpool a 2.25 chance to win on Monday but it may be wiser to take them to win in a goal-heavy game.

They can be backed at 3.25 to win the match and three or more goals to be scored at Anfield. On top of that other solid options look like the 9.40 on a 2-1 home win and 18.00 on a 3-1 win for the Merseyside Reds.
