I’m in a taxi at the moment typing out my blog as I head to Day 4 of the Punchestown Festival.
The highlight of Day 3 was undoubtedly the return to form of Faugheen. I think all racing fans enjoyed that and would have savoured him coming back to form. The reception he got from the crowd was brilliant. What a training performance!
Another busy day for me on Day 4
It’s lashing out here at the moment so I don’t think that’s going to suit him. I’ve never rode him before and don’t know loads about him.
Looked impressive earlier in the season at Leicester but ran pretty poorly at Huntingdon last time out and that doesn’t bode well.
Has had a tough few weeks and ran disappointingly on Tuesday in the Champion Chase. Big ask for him to win here.
He ran very well for me behind Samcro at Leopardstown in February. If he reproduces that he’ll have a big shout but he has to come back from a poor run at Fairyhouse last time out.
Won a maiden at Cork last month but this is a far more competitive race and a place finish is probably the best we can hope for. One plus is that he should stay the trip well.
