Tottenham v Chelsea Tips | 4th January 2016
CHRIS Graham takes a look at Wednesday night’s match between Tottenham and Chelsea.
Tottenham v Chelsea – Wednesday 19:45
2017 is only four days old but this looks a pivotal fixture in the calendar year as Tottenham host Chelsea at White Hart Lane.
The Blues are on the edge of history. Humiliated by Arsenal on September 24th, Antonio Conte’s side have won every single game in the league since to open a five point lead at the top of the table.
This 13 game winning streak has never been beaten within a single season and victory here on Wednesday will see them set an all-time record and draw level with Arsenal’s 14 game winning run in 2002 which ran over two seasons.
Chelsea’s opponents though come into this game in fine fettle. Indeed, Tottenham will go into the Top 3 if they win on home soil on Wednesday.
The North London side have fought back from a Champions League exit and defeat at Old Trafford to record four league wins in a row. Two of those have been emphatic; 4-1 against frugal Southampton and by the same scoreline against Watford.
This though is the real test and defeat to Chelsea will be a massive setback to Mauricio Pochettino’s side. They’d go 13 points behind the Blues – an insurmountable number to claw back.
Unbeaten at home in the league since May and with just one Premier League defeat there in the last 11 and a half months I’m willing to have faith in Spurs on Wednesday – unlike 188BET.
Yes, 188BET definitely favour the league leaders here and have Spurs as big as 2.80 with Chelsea at 2.69. My gut feel is to have the home side as narrow favourites.
Five of Chelsea’s last eight wins have been by just one goal and they were perhaps fortunate to beat Spurs 2-1 at Stamford Bridge in November.
This will be their first test against a Top 7 side for over a month and certainly their biggest challenge within that period.
The call here looks to be siding with Tottenham at 0 on the Asian Handicap at 1.99. This means that if the game ends in a draw, stakes will be refunded.
With such a proud home record and with Chelsea facing their stiffest test in weeks I’m expecting Tottenham to put up a big show.
On top of their brilliant odds, 188BET will refund a host of losing markets (including 1×2) if the game sees a red card.
