US Open Three Outsiders To Follow | 28th August 2017

We asked tennis tipster Nigel Seeley to pick three outsiders to follow in this year’s US Open.

US Open – Three Outsiders To Follow

THE US Open gets underway on Monday at Flushing Meadow and if you speak to any odds-compiler they will all tell you that this is the tournament that they want to get the favourites in the book.

There has been some shock winners of this tournament over the years as players arrive in New York shattered after a long hard season and this always is the bookies “dream” Grand Slam.

188BET make Roger Federer their 17/10 favourite but he was brushed aside by Alexander Zverev in Canada and that puts serious doubts in my mind.

Take your hat off to the boys at 188BET though as they’ve done their homework and realised that anybody can win this event and have asked me to highlight some dangerous floaters in the men’s draw.

Karen Khachanov 300/1

Russian giant Karen Khachanov is somebody who is going to have a massive future in the men’s game and the 29th seed is a player who could pay to have on your side over the next fortnight at a whopping 300/1 with 188BET.

Khachanov reached the last 16 at the French Open and last 32 at Wimbledon before losing against Rafael Nadal and since those performances he’s impressed every time I’ve seen him play.

He reached the quarter-finals at Hamburg and the same stage at Bastad and in what looks a favourable third section of the draw he looks one who could go deep over the next fortnight.

Denis Shapovalov 300/1

Young Canadian Denis Shapovalov is certainly a player to keep on your side in match bets markets as this 18 year-old is a certainty to be a top 10 player within the next two to three years.

Shapovalov bowed out in the opening round at Wimbledon, but since that defeat he’s played three tournaments and has made at least the semi-finals in everyone.

His career breakthrough was at the Canadian Masters earlier this month when he reached the semi-finals of his home event losing to Alexander Zverev, but he managed to take some big name scalps along the way to the last four with wins over Juan Martin Del Potro and Rafael Nadal and at 300/1 he is worth a tiny bet, but he’s certainly one to keep your eye on in match betting.

Gilles Muller 130/1

One of the ATP Tour nice guys Gilles Muller has a chance to go far in a Grand Slam again and he is worth a second look at 130/1 with 188BET.

Muller won his maiden tournament in Sydney earlier this year at the age of 33 and he melted hearts with his emotional speech after the match.

The giant from Luxembourg will have all the support of the crowd when he faces bad boy of tennis Bernard Tomic in his opener and he is a confident selection to win. Once that obstacle is overcome the draw opens up.

Muller lost in the quarter-finals at Wimbledon to Marin Cilic, but he was two sets to love up and he did beat Nadal in a five set epic the round before, since his heroics at SW19 he made the semi-final in Atlanta.

He disappointed at both Washington and Cincinnati but now with the batteries charged and in a very favourable section of the draw he’s my third and final outsider to keep an eye on.
