West Ham v Man City Tips | 6th January 2017
Chris Graham takes a look at the Friday night FA Cup tie between West Ham and Manchester City.
West Ham v Manchester City – Friday 19:55
Pep Guardiola’s bizarre BBC interview on Monday after his team’s 2-1 win over Burnley was a real view into his current frustration at the club.
After such an amazing start to his tenure (10 wins out of 10) it’s been an inconsistent few months at the Etihad. From odds on to win the title, City have now become distant third favourites as they battle to stay in the Top 4.
Now another challenge emerges, the FA Cup. The question is though, will the club embrace it or shun it?
Man City exited the League Cup with a whimper in the autumn against their Manchester rivals and the 2011 winners may find it all a bit of a drag.
Their 3rd Round opponents are West Ham. It’s been a good December for the club and they’ve pushed themselves up from the jaws of relegation to the bottom end of the mid-table but they’re nowhere near as efficient as last season.
Team line-ups are essential here before making a confident, assured pick but neither of these sides can afford to down tools on Friday.
West Ham surely have a responsibility to their fans and the fact it’s the first ever FA Cup game at the London Stadium adds a bit of credence to proceedings.
Four wins from eight for Manchester City and the decline in their league title hopes mean a defeat here will raise more questions about Guardiola.
With these factors in mind we may see a lively affair. The bet that stick out is the 2.85 on Man City winning the game and both teams scoring. With key personnel missing for the Hammers, City should be able to take advantage.
Chris Graham’s Best Bet
Man City to win and both teams to score (2.85)
