World Cup 2018 | Belgium v Tunisia Tips | 23rd June 2018
GROUP G of the 2018 World Cup continues on Saturday as Belgium meet Tunisia in Moscow. Mark O’Haire shares his thoughts on the best betting angle.
Belgium suffered a frustrating first 45 minutes at the World Cup before finally breaking the resistance of debutants Panama in the second-half last Monday. The Red Devils eventually ran out 3-0 winners although the performance from Roberto Martinez’s men was far from convincing.
Nevertheless, Belgium – who racked up a record-equalling 43 goals en-route to Russia –were never required to get out of third gear and were largely comfortable without exerting too much energy. The Red Devils saw their goal barely tested and are now warm favourites to repeat the feat here in Moscow.
Opponents Tunisia almost picked up an undeserved point against England in their curtain-raiser. The North Africans were under the cosh in a one-sided first-half before levelling proceedings after the interval, only to be punished by Harry Kane’s stoppage-time strike.
Lukaku to notch
Belgium head into this encounter having shipped a solitary strike in their last six outings. And with Tunisia’s only on-target attempt against England arriving from the penalty spot, there’s plenty of reason to believe the favourites can win this contest without conceding.
However, a stronger selection could be to back Romelu Lukaku to notch at 3/4. The Manchester United man has now scored 15 goals in his last 10 appearances for his country, only failing to fire when playing 45 minutes in a goalless draw with Portugal.
The nation’s all-time top goalscorer took advantage of Panama’s tired legs and his reputation as a flat track bully should stand him in good stead here.
