World Cup 2018 | Colombia v Poland Tips | 24th June 2018
THE World Cup continues on Sunday with action from the final group – Group H – as Colombia face Poland. Our man Ross Casey offers his betting preview and tips.
Colombia are favourites to win here with a price of 5/4. They actually played fairly well in their opening game despite being down to 10 men after just two minutes thanks to Carlos Sanchez’s handball. However, Los Cafeteros still went on to lose that game 2-1 and now the pressure is on for them to qualify from the group.
Poland have been made the underdogs here at 9/4, which is understandable considering their woeful display in their loss against Senegal. The White Eagles had virtually no impetus to their play and their defence looks shaky at best. It is bewildering how they are ranked the eighth best team in the world on that showing!
Both sides are in danger of being eliminated from the competition after opening day defeats and it will be a very nervy game in my opinion.
Colombia to win
I think Colombia at 5/4 is a decent enough price here as they will have James Rodriguez back in from the start after playing 30 minutes last time out and they were the better side for large portions of the game even with 10 men against Japan.
Both sides are under pressure to pick up a win here and Colombia are far more inclined to play on the front foot and have a bigger wealth of attacking options. Against a Poland defence that conceded more than any other European qualifier and looked hilariously bad at times in their opening game.
Poland have kept just three clean sheets in 14 games heading into this game and can be out-gunned by the likes of James Rodriguez, Radamel Falcao and Juan Cuadrado.
