World Cup 2018 | France v Denmark Tips | 26th June 2018
GROUP C of the 2018 World Cup concludes on Tuesday as France meet Denmark. Ben Levene shares his thoughts on what he believes to be the best betting angle.
France secured qualification with a 1-0 victory against Peru on Thursday. Didier Deschamps’ men are yet to get out of first gear. They may have do so against a Denmark side who require a point to secure their knockout place.
Age Hareide’s side took the lead early against Australia but failed to kick-on thereafter. An unfortunate VAR decision saw the Aussies equalise from the spot. Nonetheless, the Danes could be suited to playing against the more expansive sides. They’re generally organised and that penalty was the only goal they’ve conceded in 10 matches.
In addition, they showed their counter-attacking threat against Peru and in qualification they were able to punish teams late on once opposition overcommitted. Christian Eriksen and Pione Sisto have looked particularly dangerous.
While France have no reason to approach this in a gung-ho manner, they’re a team that look to attack in an off-the-cuff manner. Their full-backs tend to get involved high-up the pitch too.
The draw would suit both sides. Late-on it’s something that would be settled on.
The group winners will play their Last 16 tie just four-days after this fixture, so changes and early withdrawals are possible, which would disrupt any flow. The runners-up would play their first knockout game in five days.
