World Cup 2018 | France v Uruguay Tips | 6th July 2018
THE quarter-finals of the 2018 World Cup get underway on Friday afternoon as France face Uruguay in Nizhny Novgorod. Ross Casey shares his thoughts on the best betting angle.
France and Uruguay open up the quarter-finals in what could prove a hot-tempered affair. Whichever side progress, things won’t get any easier – Brazil or Belgium will be awaiting them in the semi-final!
France topped Group C without needing get out of first-gear. Single-goal wins against Australia and Peru awarded Didier Deschamps the luxury of making changes against Denmark and then they showed their true attacking colours in a 4-3 thriller against Argentina in the last 16.
Uruguay, on the other hand, have shown absolutely no sign of being anything but a solid line-up capable of beating what is in front of them. They are one of only two sides that have 100% records still in the competition.
The latest odds suggest that France will go through here with best odds of evens, whilst Uruguay are the underdogs at 10/3.
Under 2.5 Goals & Both teams to score – No
France really took advantage of the badly balanced Argentina defence and scored four past them last weekend. Against a Uruguay side that depend upon their stability, I cannot see that happening again.
In fact, these two sides have met five times this century overall with four 0-0 draws and a 1-0 Uruguay. Just the one goal has been scored. Therefore the selection of under 2.5 goals and both team to score – no – looks appealing at 8/11.
