Iran v Portugal | Monday 22nd June 2018, 19:00 | BBC4

Iran come into this game still harbouring hopes of reaching the knockout stages, however they’ll face a tough task against Portugal. The Portuguese only need a draw to see themselves in the last-16 of the tournament, however fans will certainly be expecting nothing less than three points.

There are some who think that Portugal will stroll to victory, but while I think they’ll prevail, I don’t believe the match will be as easy as some might expect.

Iran have a miserly defence that only shipped a single goal against Spain in their previous game, and Portugal also struggled in attack slightly, just scoring the one goal against Morocco.

The betting angles

So, what looks like a good bet for this Group B encounter? Well, I’m immediately drawn towards a win for Portugal, but not a massive one, thanks to the stubbornness of the Iranian defence, but I also don’t think Iran will manage to breach the Portuguese goal line.

Therefore, I’m going to predict a win for the Portuguese and only one team to score – a nice combination that will get you odds of 6/4 at 188BET.

There are also some good other bets around, such as Cristiano Ronaldo to score at any time, which has reasonably good odds of 4/5, as well as a simple Portugal win, which can be grabbed at 188BET at odds of 7/10 – pretty decent considering how much of a favourite Portugal are for this game.
